Dashboard Media Monitor

The dashboard is the landing page of the Media Monitor. In the dashboard, you can quickly see what is happening online and in editorial media through a search query. You can find, compare, and interpret data by selecting filters and charts.

Query builder

In the query builder, you can perform a search based on queries by using operators, such as sourcetype:news or lang:nl. This allows you to apply a filter within your search query, eliminating the need to apply filters separately. However, it's easier to use the AI Query builder.

How to start a new search with the query builder

  3. Describe your topic. You will be prompted to enter a natural language description of what you're trying to find. For example: “I want to find news articles about healthcare, but without irrelevant results like job vacances”.
  4. The AI generates a query based on your input. You can edit or fine-tune it manually if needed before executing the search.
  5. Click Generate query to run the query and view the results.

  6. Choose if you want to Use this query or adjust your search topic (below Describe your search topic) and click Generate query again.
  7. Once you're satisfied with the query, click Search. You can also choose to save the query for future use.

What if the AI doesn't understand my input?

Try rephrasing your search using simpler language or break it into smaller parts. The AI works best with concise, clear queries. Read more about this in the article: Step-by-step guide: Assistance with search queries using the AI Query Builder

Save a query

If you have found the correct search results with your query, you can save the search using the Save query button.

If the search query has the same name as an existing search, you will have two choices: 'Save as new search' or 'Override this search'. If you override the search, you will lose your old search, so be careful about the choice you make!

Note

Overriding can impact other functionalities, such as alerts or newsletters.

Selected filters will not be included

If you have selected filters on the left in the Dashboard, these will not be included in your search query. You still need to apply these filters in the alert or report.

Adding existing search queries

You can also add an existing search query to the dashboard. This eliminates the need to create a search query from scratch. You can easily add an existing search query by clicking on the button Saved queries.

Filter

In the dashboard, you can refine your search query using filters. The filters are located on the left side of the dashboard.

When you select a filter, you specify the desired information, and everything else is excluded.

By default, the dashboard is set to the 'last 7 days' date range, but you can manually change it. The rest of the filters can be toggled as needed.

The Clear All button removes all selected filters from all filter options: date, sentiment, platform, message types, and language.

If you're missing a filter, you can click on Add Filter and add a filter of your choice.
