The dashboard is the landing page of the Media Monitor. In the dashboard, you can quickly see what is happening online and in editorial media through a search query. Quick Search
The dashboard includes a quick search feature. In the quick search, you can enter a search query about the desired topic. By combining different search queries, various topics are displayed to help you compare and interpret the necessary data.
How does the quick search work?
Enter a search query in the search bar and press Enter or the 'refresh button' to update all charts and dashboards.
You can also add an additional search query using the plus icon above the search bar. This way, you can compare multiple topics in the dashboard.
In the dashboard, you can change the colors of the entered search queries. You can also change the name of the search query. Initially, the Media Monitor automatically uses the entered search query as the name. You can change the name and color above the search query in the tab title.
What data can be found in the dashboard?
In the dashboard, you will find the following charts:
1. Overview
2. Volume
3. Sentiment
4. Authors
5. Tagcloud
6. Messages
Refining Your Search with Filters
In the dashboard, you can refine your search query using filters. The filters are located on the left side of the dashboard. When you select a filter, you specify the desired information, and everything else is excluded.
By default, the dashboard is set to the 'last 7 days' date range, but you can manually change it. The rest of the filters can be toggled as needed. This article explains the various filters and their purposes.
The "Clear All" button removes all selected filters from all filter options: date, sentiment, platform, message types, and language.
If you're missing a filter, you can click on "Add Filter" and add a filter of your choice.
Refining Your Search with Operators
You can also refine your search query by using operators, such as sourcetype:news or lang:nl. This allows you to apply a filter within your search query, eliminating the need to apply filters separately.
To see the available operators in the Media Monitor, you can refer to this Help Center article. Adjusting the search query using operators can sometimes be challenging, which is why we have provided the search filters on the left side for easy modification of the search query.
To demonstrate that operators achieve the same results as search filters, we will create two search queries in a dashboard (one using operators and one using search filters) to show that both yield the same outcome.
Adding Existing Search Queries
Now, you can also add an existing search query to the dashboard. This eliminates the need to create a search query from scratch. You can easily add an existing search query by clicking on the down arrow on the right, which will display your saved search queries.
Save Query in Dashboard
If you have found the correct search results with your query, you can save the search using the save symbol on the right in the search bar. If the search query has the same name as an existing search, you will have two choices: 'Save as new search' or 'Override this search'. If you override the search, you will lose your old search, so be careful about the choice you make! Note: Overriding can impact other functionalities, such as alerts or newsletters.
Please note that if you have selected filters on the left in the Dashboard, these will not be included in your search query. You still need to apply these filters in the alert or report. See here for how to create an alert and here for how to create a new report.
