How can I exclude spam messages in a stream?

In Spotler Engage you can exclude messages from a specific person from a stream by adding the person to a group in the CRM system and adjusting the stream's search query so that this group is excluded. You do this via the Stream settings, the CRM system and Search queries.

You exclude a person from a stream by first adding him to a group in the CRM system, for example a group named spam, and then adjusting the stream's search query with the NOT group operator so that messages from that group are no longer shown.

Access needed

You need access to the Stream settings, the CRM system and Search queries to perform these steps. If you do not have this access, contact your administrator, as an administrator has the rights to perform these steps.

Excluding a person from a stream

Select the person in the stream and open User information. Click on CRM. If the person is not yet in the list, add him first and then look him up in the CRM system to open the user information.

User information

Go to Groups and add the person to an existing group, or create a new group by clicking the plus sign. For example, name the group spam and optionally mark it with a color.

Navigate to the stream and open Stream settings, General settings, Search queries. Select the search query and add NOT group:spam. Save the modified search query and also save the stream settings.

After you save the search query, new messages from this person will no longer appear in the stream.

Excluding multiple people at once

If you already have multiple exclusions in the search query, add the new exclusion using the OR operator, for example NOT (word OR group:spam OR word OR word).

Already loaded messages do not disappear immediately

Messages that were already in the stream before you changed the search query remain visible because they have already been loaded. Test the adjusted search query beforehand via Quick search to check whether the person is excluded before you save the change.
