This help article explains how to exclude messages from your reports using the label: operator. By using labels and tasks, you can assign a label to messages and exclude them from your reports with the NOT operator. Follow the steps below.
- Step 1: First, create a search query in your dashboard and create a report by clicking Create report. Open your report and customise the widgets as needed. You may notice messages that you do not want to include in your reports. Continue to the next step.
For detailed instructions on creating a report, see the following help article here.
- Step 2: Navigate to Labels in the left-hand menu and click Create label. Give the label a unique name and click Create.
- Step 3: Navigate to Tasks in the left-hand menu and click Create task.
Select the report to which you want to apply labels, enter a task name, apply filters as needed, select the task type Assign labels to messages, and set the percentage to 100%.
Choose a start and end date to determine when the task should be completed. If you want the task to run continuously, select Recurring task. Choose an assignee who will perform the task, review the Preview, make adjustments if necessary, and then click Create task.
- Step 4: Open the task you created. Select the message that you want to exclude and click Add label.
- Step 5: Return to your search query and add the operator NOT label:"labelname".
- Step 6: Return to your dashboard and select the updated search query.
The selected message will immediately disappear from the results. When you open the report, you will also see that the labelled message is no longer included.
