It is possible to load Instagram Direct Messages (private messages from Instagram Business accounts) and respond to them from Spotler Engage. In this article, we explain how it works.
Step-by-step Guide
- (Re)connect your Instagram Business account(s).
To be able to load Instagram Direct Messages and respond to them, it is necessary to reconnect the Instagram account(s) to Spotler Engage. This can be done through this page. You don't need to remove the existing connection first; when you reconnect, it will automatically overwrite the old connection.
Please note! In Permissions, you need to specify again whether only you have access to this Account or if the Account will be available to one or more Roles. - Grant access to external apps (such as OBI4wan) for Direct Messages via the Instagram app.
Follow the steps below in your Instagram app to enable access for third-party apps (like OBI4wan) from the Instagram app:
- Open the Instagram app and go to the relevant profile/account.
- Tap on your profile icon in the bottom right.
- Tap on the context menu (three lines) in the upper right corner.
- Tap on Settings > Privacy > Messages.
- Under the 'Linked Tools' section, enable the option to Grant Access to Messages. - Start interacting!
If the above two steps have been successfully completed, you can create a search query and/or stream in Webcare. If you already have existing Instagram webcare streams, it's also possible that messages are now automatically coming in (so please check). An example of the search query would be:
