How do I use TikTok in Spotler Engage?

TikTok in Spotler Engage is in beta and not yet accessible to everyone at this moment. Are you interested in using this? Feel free to contact your Accountmanager and then we can turn it on for your environment.

Using the social media platform TikTok in Spotler Engage is possible. This article explains how to link TikTok and what you can do with it. Also watch the video below where Spotler Engage expert Louelle gives a demo about using TikTok on the platform.

Linking an account

Linking a TikTok account works as follows: 

  • In Spotler Engage, click on your username in the top right corner and then select Accounts. This will take you to the settings where you can manage linked accounts and add new ones.

  • Click Link account and select TikTok from the Account type selection window.

  • Follow any additional options and finally click Link TikTok account at the bottom. You will now be redirected to the external linking page, where you log in with your TikTok account credentials. In this window, you will also select the permissions you want to grant to Spotler Engage, as shown in the example below. Click Continue to proceed.

  • Once your TikTok account is linked, you will see it listed under Accounts, along with any other linked accounts.

Publish module

The Publish module is used to create, manage, and publish TikTok posts. When creating a new post, select your TikTok account from the selection window to get started. Read more about creating messages in Publish module here.TikTok3.png

When creating a TikTok post, there are more options available under TikTok settings:

  • Caption (only for images): Add a caption to your post. 
  • Who can view this post: Choose whether your post is visible to everyone, friends only or only you.
  • Allow users to: Select whether users are allow to comment on your post. Videos also have two other options for which users can use your content:
    • Duet: Give users the ability to react on your post alongside their own video.
    • Stitch: Give users the ability to react after your post with their own video.
  • Disclose content: Use this button to indicate whether the post contains commercial content. If so, you must select at least one of the following options:
    • Your brand: Select this option to label your post as 'Promotional content'.
    • Branded content: Select this option if your post contains 'Paid partnership' content.

Requirements

Adding music to your posts

It is not possible to add music seperately to posts.

Mentions

Mentions only work if they are correctly typed in the description. Auto-complete is not supported.

Character limit and media quantity

TikTok has a character limit of 2200 characters, which is dynamically displayed in the text field. You can add up to 35 images or 1 video per post.

Supported media types and dimensions
Supported media types are JPEG, WebP, MOV en MP4. The media dimensions are:
  • Images: maximum 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Videos: minimum 360 pixels and maximum 4096 pixels 
Maximum media size
The maximum size for images is 20 MB and 4 GB for video. A video can be 3 minutes long maximum.

Once published, the post will appear in the content calendar with the TikTok logo next to it:TikTok4.png

In the Publish module, you can also view TikTok statistics. Keep in mind that only statistics from public content can be retrieved in Engage. The following data is available:

Post statistics

  • Likes
  • Engagements
  • Comments
  • Impressions
  • Shares

Account statistics

  • Fans/followers
  • Engagement

Support for the Webcare and Media Monitor modules

At this time, the Webcare and Media Monitor modules are not supported, unfortunately.
