You link a Facebook account via Settings > Accounts > Button: Link account. Then choose Facebook and you will see the settings. Only an administrator can link an account.
Account details
Here you can see the type of account selected, in this case: Facebook.
Rights
Specify which roles the account is available for.
If you choose “available only to me,” this account is only available to yourself and other users cannot select the account in Webcare or Publish. So you can also link private accounts that you only work with yourself.
Automated platform synchronisation
When you check this option then you can easily sync posts across all platforms.
Standard Google UTM coding
Under the heading “default Google UTM coding,” enter (optionally) default values that you include when you link in a post.
UTM coding allows you to add an extra attribute to your link so you can better analyze who clicks on your link. You can find this data in Google Analytics.
Additional settings Facebook
Additional settings and conditions for linking a Facebook account:
- Setting Facebook account permissions
- Setting Facebook messenger permissions
- Verifying Facebook account identity
Setting Facebook account permissions
You need to set permissions correctly to avoid the following issues:
- Not adding Facebook sources in 'Sources'
- Unable to respond to Facebook or Instagram messages
- Issues with publishing on Facebook and Instagram
- Liking messages from Facebook
The issue is that the Facebook account is not fully linked, which means not all necessary permissions are set to perform all actions. This could prevent you, for example, from liking messages or adding public Facebook sources to 'Sources'.
In this guide, we will explain exactly how to correctly link your Facebook account so that all permissions (tokens) are retrieved from Facebook.
Step 1: Navigate to Facebook's Business Integrations here.
You will then see the permission linked below. Click on "View and edit".
Step 2: If not all permissions are checked for each page, you need to check all pages for each permission.
We indeed need full permission from your account to be allowed to use it in your environment, regardless of whether you use all the pages or not. Select all pages and save the settings.
Step 3: Now re-link your Facebook account via Settings > Accounts > + Link Account, or click here.
Important! Do not delete the account, as this will also delete data, such as Statistics and Publications.
Setting Facebook messenger permissions
If you're not receiving Messenger messages from Facebook in your environment, it's likely due to multiple permissions linked to third-party software. We need to determine which specific third-party software the Messenger messages are being sent to, as Facebook cannot make this decision for you.
It's not possible to send Messenger messages to multiple third-party software simultaneously. Conversations must be handled within one software program and cannot be distributed across multiple programs.
Please note! These steps can only be performed by a page (business) administrator.
Step 1: Log in to https://www.facebook.com/ and click on your profile picture of the page in the top right corner of the relevant business page.
Step 2: Click on Settings and Privacy and further click on Settings. Navigate to 'Audience and visibility' and click on Page setup. Under 'Advanced messaging', click on 'View'.
Step 3: Click on 'Configure' next to App Settings - Handover protocol - Messenger Receiver.
Step 4: Select application 193082837424714 from the list.
Step 5: Reconnect the business page in your environment via Settings > Accounts > '+ Link Account' (do not delete the account!). From now on, Messenger messages will be sent to your environment.
Verifying Facebook account identity
To improve the detection of fake identities and related abuse, Facebook is asking people who manage pages with a high potential reach to verify their account. More information about this can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/help/367814907084687/?helpref=related
This regulation also affects the use of Engage when it comes to Facebook.
In order to optimally use our Engage solution, it is now a requirement to first verify the Facebook account and then (re)link the account to Engage.
The verification process requires the submission of proof of identity. Facebook states that this is only used to complete the verification process. Your information is not shared on your profile or with other people who manage your page. After your identity has been confirmed, this information is deleted from our systems. This usually happens within 30 days. You can read more about this here: https://www.facebook.com/help/582999911881572
