How do I create a query based on a Mention?

Twitter

For Twitter, it is possible to retrieve posts and comments using the following operators:

  • @obi4wan
  • mention:obi4wan

Use the following search queries:

  • "account name" AND source:twitter
  • @account name AND source:twitter
  • mention:account name AND source:twitter

LinkedIn

It is also possible to retrieve mentions for LinkedIn. A mention is a post in which your LinkedIn account is tagged by another person or company.

To retrieve LinkedIn mentions, use the following query in Media Monitor: posttype:"Company-update" NOT user:[[username]]

Instagram

Mentions in the text of a photo of a post may be loaded into your environment.

However, if you are tagged in a photo of a post or a story, we are not allowed to load it into your environment.

  • "account name" AND source:instagram
  • @account name AND source:instagram
  • mention:account name AND source:instagram

Facebook

If someone created a post and mentions your account, we are allowed to load that data in. But not from personal pages, only company pages.

Due to privacy concerns, Facebook does not allow external parties to retrieve data from personal Facebook accounts.

If someone posts a message or status update on their personal timeline, we are not allowed to retrieve this message. Also, if someone posts a message or status update on their personal Facebook page and mentions a company (causing the message to also appear on the company page), we are not allowed to retrieve this message.

If someone tagged you in a comment, we are not allowed to collect this data.

Fortunately, you can still retrieve articles and posts from public sources by using a specific search query. You can do this by adding the search query "account name" OR "company name" NOT user:"account name". This allows you to find posts in which these words are mentioned.
