In Spotler Engage you link an Instagram Business account via Settings > Accounts > Link account. This connects your Instagram messages and comments to the software, so you can manage them from Engage. To make the connection you need an Instagram Business account that is linked to a Facebook Business Manager.
A personal Instagram account cannot be linked to Spotler Engage. Convert the account to an Instagram Business account first before making the connection.

Before you begin
Check that the following conditions are met before linking an Instagram Business account: you have administrator rights for the account, the account is an Instagram Business account, and this Business account is linked to the corresponding Facebook Business Manager.
Converting your Instagram account to a Business account
Without an Instagram Business account you cannot make full use of the linking options in Spotler Engage. Follow the steps below in the Instagram app on your mobile device.
- Tap the profile icon, usually in the bottom right of the screen, to go to your profile.
- Tap the hamburger menu in the top right and select Settings at the bottom of the menu.
- Scroll to Account and choose Switch to Professional Account.
- Choose the category that best fits your business.
- Link the account to your business's Facebook page. This is needed to link the Instagram Business account to Spotler Engage later on.
- Choose whether the profile is public or restricted. For business accounts a public profile is recommended.
- Tap Done and complete the remaining steps to set up the business account.
Linking an Instagram Business account to Spotler Engage
- Go to Settings > Accounts and click in the top right on Link account.
- Choose Instagram from the list, select the roles that will get access to the account, and click Continue with Facebook. From this point the connection continues via Facebook.
- Log in with the Facebook account that has administrator rights for the desired Facebook page. Spotler Engage automatically determines which pages this account manages and which Instagram account is linked to each page.
- Accept all requested permissions from Facebook. This is needed to complete the connection. You will then return to Spotler Engage and see an overview of all the Instagram accounts you can link, including the corresponding Facebook page.
- Select the accounts you want to link and click Save.
Be careful when relinking an account
If you relink an account while it was already linked, the existing connection is overwritten by a new connection. Do not remove an account from the environment before relinking it, as this could cause scheduled messages to be lost.
