Global UTM tagging enables you to effortlessly include query parameters into the links you share through our platform.
Each link created has unique attributes that connect it to the corresponding social post. This feature enables you to automatically add query parameters to your shared links, utilising these attributes to populate values for web tracking and attribution.
To access this feature, navigate to Settings > Accounts > Global UTM tagging section. If the feature is not enabled for your environment, please contact your Account Manager.
Once the values on global level are populated, your tracking configuration will be applied to the links of all scheduled and future posts and the links will be shortened automatically on publication.
By default, the tagging applies to all your shared links. However, you can customise it for specific posts by clicking on the URL in the message editor. Here, you can choose to disable UTM parameters for the specific post or override them with the automatic values.
Please be aware that any UTM values defined at the account level will take precedence over the global UTM settings.
The available fields are:
Source* : utm_source
Medium*: utm_medium
Campaign/name*: utm_campaign
Term/word: utm_term
Content: utm_content
Please make sure to fill in at least the following 3 mandatory fields:
Source, Medium, campaign name
The following variables are available for dynamically populating the values of your UTM parameters:
%profile_name% => Engage account name
%social_network% => Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn
%tags% => A comma-separated list of message tags
%profile_id% => Engage Account ID
%post_id% => The Engage message ID
%post_publish_date% => The posts' publish date (without seconds)
%user_id% => The Engage user ID
%user_name% => The Engage user name
The values with percent signs will be replaced with dynamic data when the user clicks on them. Additionally, you can include static values either on their own or in combination with a placeholder. For example, using %social_network%-Spotler will result in "Twitter-Spotler".
